About Honey Clarke
I’ve been painting and drawing all my life. My mother was a musician and artist and my father, an entertaining storyteller at heart. That’s why I love capturing life in words and pictures.
Growing up, art wasn’t a career option. I figured artists spent a lot of time starving in garrets, and as I liked food, I opted for teaching. Good choice – I loved it. Had an income and used every opportunity to incorporate my artistic skills to get ideas across. I still feel it’s my superpower.
Now my art and illustration are evolving. I’m inspired by Japanese Sumi-e (ink art) where less is more - allowing people’s imagination to fill in the gaps. I play with blocks of colour and the least amount of strokes to give the most impact through the mediums of water colour and ink. I’m happy to say I’ve become a full-time illustrator and an artist.
